DANIELLE VAN ARSDALE

Danielle’s practice specializes in water law. Danielle assists clients with a wide range of matters, including development of water rights and infrastructure, water acquisitions and transfers, water supply planning, environmental regulation, and water-related disputes. Danielle has over eleven years of experience practicing water law in the Roaring Fork Valley. With proficiency in both litigation and out-of-court negotiations, Danielle helps her clients achieve the best and most cost-effective solutions for their water-related needs.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS:

  • Represents clients in all stages of development of water rights and resources through adjudication before Water Court, securing permitting from state and local agencies, and/or entering private contracts. Sample clients include individuals, developers, energy companies, ditch companies, local governments, ranches, golf courses, and ski resorts.

  • Represents clients in the water-related aspects of residential and commercial real estate transactions, including due diligence review of water rights, valuations, preparation of closing documents, and handling of post-closing matters.

  • Represents clients in disputes over ownership, control, and usage of water rights, and with easement issues.

  • Advises clients on long- and short-term water supply planning needs and goals.

  • Provides valuations and appraisals of water rights and resources for purposes of investment, marketing, collateralizing debt, and property acquisitions or sales. .

  • Juris Doctor, University of Colorado Law School, 2010.

  • B.A. (History and Government), Dartmouth College, 2004 (cum laude).

  • Prior to joining Wood Pearce Nelson, Danielle was an attorney at Patrick Miller & Noto PC, a boutique water law firm in the Roaring Fork Valley.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND INTERESTS:

Danielle spends her free time skiing, hiking, rafting, and otherwise enjoying life in the mountains with her husband and two daughters. Danielle is actively involved with the Dartmouth Alumni Association and Colorado Bar Association Judicial Diversity Committee, and she formerly served on the Board of Directors of Response.
