Avery Nelson

Avery’s practice focuses on assisting clients in a wide range of real estate and business transactions, including all aspects of commercial and residential sales and acquisitions, business entity formation, and preparation of corporate governing documents. With a litigation background in her early career, Avery has a unique perspective with an eye toward avoiding potential pitfalls and disputes related to, among other things, contract negotiation and drafting and formation of business relationships. Avery also assists individuals and families with estate planning, including preparation of wills and revocable trusts.

Real Estate Representative Matters:

  • Represents clients in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate transactions including contract negotiation and drafting, complex due diligence investigations, preparation of closing documents, and handling post-closing for matters related to ongoing management and development for projects.

  • Oversees and manages coordination of the land use approval process for development of real property, including advising clients with negotiations and contracts for design, development and construction phases of a project.

  • Assists individuals with business entity formation and structuring, including limited liability companies, partnerships and corporations.

  • Assists clients with negotiation, review and drafting of commercial and residential leases.

  • Experienced with the public trustee system of foreclosures unique to Colorado and provides creditor clients with knowledgeable advice and guidance before, during and after the foreclosure process.

  • Works with homeowners’ associations to update and amend governing documents and advise associations on governance and management matters.

Estate Planning Representative Matters:

  • Assists clients with non-taxable estates with overall estate planning strategy and preparation of wills, revocable trusts, and powers of attorneys.

  • Provides counsel to families and corporate fiduciaries relating to the administration of estates.

  • Avery has been practicing law in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley for over 11 years. Prior to joining Wood Pearce Nelson, Avery was an attorney with Garfield & Hecht, P.C. in Aspen, Colorado.
