Amelia Hastings

Amelia advises high net worth individuals and families on a variety of wealth transfer and tax planning issues. Specifically, she works with her clients to establish sophisticated estate plans, make lifetime gifts, create multi-generational trusts, form family companies and partnerships, transition family businesses, engage in philanthropy, plan for incapacity, negotiate marital agreements, and administer trusts and estates.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS:

  • Guides individuals and families through the process of creating a tailored estate plan that integrates their values and objectives with sophisticated wealth transfer strategies to minimize income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer (“GST”) taxes. 

  • Advises clients regarding advanced planning techniques using lifetime gifts, trusts (including IDGTs, GRATs, CLTs, QPRTs, and SLATs), family business entities, intrafamily loans, installment sales, charitable funds and organizations, etc.

  • Coordinates with family offices and other advisors to streamline the estate and tax planning process. 

  • Helps families create and implement business succession plans and educate the next generation on wealth stewardship.

  • Represents fiduciaries administering trusts and estates.  

  • Counsels trust and estate beneficiaries on their rights and potential estate planning considerations.

  • Represents clients in the preparation and negotiation of marital agreements (prenuptial and postnuptial).
